Work Experience
February 2008 to Present: Senior SQL Server DBA at a commercial insurance company. As a SQL Server developer I design and create databases, tables, stored procedures, functions, and reports. Technologies include SSRS and Crystal Reports. Design integration, import/export with data from USPS, ISO, and various state insurance reporting departments. Troubleshoot, fix performance issues.
February 2003 to February 2008: Through my company Broad Lea LLC I consulted to private and government organizations regarding database design and development.

May 1997 to November 1997: I was a consultant to the Texas Department of Health in Austin. I was responsible for designing and developing an interface between 600 clinics throughout Texas and the state’s Immunization Tracking system. In this project I developed in both Visual FoxPro and FoxPro for DOS. The project was well ahead of schedule due to my development efforts, and I was given additional projects to complete. (reason for leaving: end of contract term)
April 1987 to May 1997: I was on the faculty of the University of North Florida, as the head of the Computer Technology Instruction and Development department for the University’s Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM), the largest independent trainer of police personnel in the US.

October 1981 to April 1987: I held the positions of Lieutenant, Patrol Commander, Emergency Services Team (SWAT) leader, Training Sergeant, and Patrolman at the 400-person Law Enforcement unit at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. At Cape Canaveral I was in charge of the unit responsible for ensuring adequate physical protection for facilities and launch sites critical to the U.S. space program.
My professional career started in law enforcement after graduating from Titusville High School (Florida) in 1976, and joined the Brevard County Sheriff's Office in 1978. I served as a Deputy and Narcotics/Vice Agent with the Sheriff's Office, and have been a sworn officer with the Titusville and Jacksonville Beach Police Departments. I have also been a consultant to Mobil Oil's headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, where I worked on a large-scale development project for Mobil’s worldwide oil shipping and billing system.
